DOST-PSTC Southern Leyte participates in Skills and Livelihood Forum

The Department of Science and Technology- Southern Leyte Provincial Science and Technology Center, led by Provincial S&T Director Engr. Florita M. Santiago, joined the Skills and Livelihood Consultative Forum to Women Sector held at the Municipal Gym of Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte on March 30, 2020. The activity, which also launched MARE CARES (Maalagaron, Abtik, Responsible ug Ehempo nga Kababain-han), an association of different women groups in the municipality, was in consonance with the celebration of National Women’s Month.
Engr. Santiago, in her livelihood opportunity talk, promoted DOST’s different programs and services and announced the coconut processing projects in Brgy. Cambite and Brgy. San Antonio under the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) program. A groundbreaking ceremony was also held for the construction of the Skills and Livelihood Center which would offer skills development training courses and would house offices of different national line agencies to bring services closer to the people.
The event was graced by Tomas Oppus Municipal Mayor Jessica Marie E. Pano, its Vice-Mayor and SB Members. Representatives from TESDA, DOLE, and DTI were also invited as speakers. Tomas Oppus is a 5th class municipality of Southern Leyte which shares the bay coast with other Sogod Bay towns. (By Mark Anthony Degamo, DOST-PSTC Southern Leyte)
